Komodo National Park

Komodo is located in center of the Indonesian archipelago. Komodo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986 due to it’s biological importance. Although it was first established to protect the Komodo dragon (Varanus Komodoenisis) and its habitat, it has morphed into a much larger area to protect both the terrestrial and marine biodiversity. Komodo is one of our planet’s richest marine environments and home to over 1000 species of fish, 260+ species of corals and 70 unique species of sea sponges.

Komodo is also home to some very rare creatures like the Dugong, Flamboyant Cuttlefish, more than a dozen species of whales and a thriving turtle population.
